Report: Chicago Cubs Show Interest in BJ Ryan

A number of media outlets, including the Chicago Tribune, have reported over the weekend that the Chicago Cubs are interested in adding former Toronto Blue Jays' reliever BJ Ryan.

Ryan, who clears waivers on Monday, will become a free agent after being released by Toronto. He was supposed to make $15 million this year.

The investment the Cubs would need to make in the oft-injured reliever would be minimal, and they would have the option of sending Ryan to the minors for a time, just until he was ready to compete at a major league level.

The fact that the Cubs would have interest in an experienced former closer who throws left handed is certainly not an earth-shattering revelation to fans.
