Why the Chicago Cubs Missed Their Opportunity to Unload Alfonso Soriano

Alfonso Soriano is fast approaching a 30 homer season with 100 RBIs, joining exclusive company in Cubs history. It would be his highest total since 2007 and his highest RBI total since 2005. 

He's been an anchor in the Cubs lineup, being one of the most productive players in baseball from mid-May to the All-Star Break. He's only hitting .261, still his highest total since 2008.

The Cubs tried hard to unload him this season, but his contract situation makes him very undesirable, even with the numbers he's posting. Soriano is owed $36 million ...
